You can save your business time by ensuring that important documents are as clear and succinct as possible.
What do we offer?
We are always happy to edit your documents for plain language. For larger pieces of work we’d need to see the document, or a representative sample, to give you a fixed quote for the work.
What is our experience?
In the past we’ve reviewed translations of legal documents, standard terms of business, articles for publication, and templates for emails, reports and minutes. Cathy Wilcox has also judged the “best legal document” category of the WriteMark plain language awards in New Zealand.
What do people think of our work?
“We were very pleased with the work you did and adopted most of the changes you suggested. I found it very helpful to have a fresh pair of eyes on a document with which I am very familiar – it was obvious when I saw your redraft that we should change words which I thought were very simple, e.g. “termination” to “end”, but I could not see this before!” (Head of Risk at an international law firm whose terms of business we reviewed for plain language)
“Cathy reviewed some legal documents that I had translated, with an eye on terminological correctness and observance of plain-language drafting principles. Her feedback was thorough, insightful and very helpful, providing food for thought that has enabled me to enhance the quality of my translation services. She is also very pleasant and professional to deal with.” (Translator)
“I am digesting your mark-up – thank you sincerely, Cathy. It looks like a lot of work. I really appreciate your time. Your message is hitting home and I hope my writing improves quickly with my greater awareness and diligence. I am inspired and motivated.” (Senior lawyer in London)
